For the past few months i have started hosting groups that focus on the layers of Self or Koshas as they are known in Yoga. They are experiential groups and we spend a large part of the time in a guided visualization that traverses the Koshas. We focus on one Kosha in each month and meet twice a month.
For the Annamaya Kosha we focused on the three qualities of food – satva, rajas and tamas. the fact that our bodies are made of the same substance, the same five elements as the stars. we took time to appreciate all the different parts of the body, all the internal organs and the various systems that make the body run and function in an organized and coherent way without requiring much conscious effort on our part.
for the pranamaya kosha we experimented with various breathing patterns, and watched how it affected our energy. we gave some attention and awareness to the flow of energy in the body, noticed the places we feel stuck or heavy or in flow.
for manomaya kosha we gave attention to our thoughts and feelings. we noticed the commentary we have about our experiences and how the nature of that commentary in turn impacts our experiences.
we continue the journey into the manas and the other koshas in further group meetings. i will keep you all posted.
